Update on Pleasant Creek lake renovations

A great year of racing awaits you with the 2016 versions of the Pigman Sprint and Long Course Triathlons and the Marion Arts Festival Half Marathon & 5K!

The Pigman Sprint enters its 25th year, while the Long Course will continue to feature a new and improved, spectator friendly race course. One item to be aware of is the planned renovation of the Pleasant Creek State Park lake. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has taken the lake down about 15% to improve the lake, boat ramps, beaches, etc. While this is certainly not ideal, it should not cause any problems for competitors. You can read more about the renovation on the Iowa DNR's website here and here.

The Iowa DNR has said that the triathlons can continue as regularly scheduled and it’s in full support of having events take place during the renovation. We expect the water quality to not to be impacted by the renovation, but testing will be done prior to the event to ensure safe swimming conditions.

We will keep you posted of any changes or new information as we are in contact with the DNR on a regular basis. However, do not expect any changes to this status, so don’t be surprised if there are no updates.

Registration for all the races opens December 20th, so mark your calendars! We’re looking to forward to bringing you three fantastic and memorable races!
